The Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT) is a non-profit organization with the mission of reducing the prevalence, and improving the lives of persons affected by diabetes. We do this through education, screening, research and support. Our major education and research event is the Annual Diabetes Symposium and Expo.
We will have Caribbean medical professionals present and discuss new findings in Diabetes research which are relevant to the region. We aim to bring together seasoned investigators and upcoming researchers in a setting which promotes collaboration and support.
For this first session, we will host a panel discussion with experts in their fields, focusing on the impact of diabetes on the members of the family. Students will also be invited to submit abstracts for poster presentations.
This event will be held on Friday 29th September at the Centre of Excellence and will be a feature of our two-day National Health Expo which promises to be the largest health event ever hosted in T&T. Our theme for this 26th installment of the expo is Diabetes Care: A Family Affair. Our feature speakers for the CDU sessions will be Dr. Shaukat Sadikot (President- International Diabetes Federation) and Prof. Felicia Hill-Briggs (President Elect – American Diabetes Association).
We ask for the TTMA’s assistance to promote the event amongst your members, enlist potential speakers and provide CME certificates to attendees.
Please find our draft booklet for this event here.
